During this lock-down there has been more exercise programmes on T.V, zoom and YouTube than ever before. Scripture talks about the value of getting both physical exercise and spiritual exercise. Yes, our spiritual development will last into eternity, but our physical development helps us to be more effective while we are here on earth. We have to take care of our whole person in order to live a balanced life and reach our full potential. If one was to be sacrificed, then your physical exercise should always give way to your spiritual exercise which will give you eternal life.
Remember, our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Are you making time to take care of your temple? Sometimes we make a bigger deal about getting exercise than we need to. You don’t have to get a gym membership or work out for a long time to have benefits.
Today, while in lock-down, get started on your physical and spiritual workout. Physical: start walking in your neighbourhood. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park a little further away from the grocery store. Spiritually: kneel in prayer morning, noon and night. Lift your hands in praise to your God. Consistently open your Bible and stand on His promises. Hallelujah! Do whatever you can do to stay active, because exercising spiritually and physically is what makes a balanced workout and prepares you for eternity!
“For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” (1 Timothy 4:8, NIV)
是的weh, I declare today that I am committed to be my best spiritually and physically. Father, I desire to honour You with my whole being. God, help me not to forsake my physical exercise, but most importantly to not forsake my spiritual exercise. Help me to make good decisions that will build my physical and spiritual immune system, being an effective example for my loved ones and people I come into contact with everywhere I go. In Christ’s Name! Amen.
